Prepare Your Wardrobe for Hunting Season

by Winston Hughes on 01/09/14

Fall hunting season is right around the corner, which means that now is the perfect time to update your wardrobe for the new season. While some men grab the same clothing they wore year after year from their closets, others know that new clothing can help them when out in the woods. Some of the top clothing that you'll find is suitable for use during the hunting season and beyond.

Choose the Right Jeans

Not all hunters wear jeans during the hunting season, and many men feel like denim restricts their movements. The newest denim designs offer more freedom of movement, and these jeans can take you from the middle of the wilderness to a day at work without missing a beat. Straight leg jeans move from the hip to the ankle in a straight line, while boot cut jeans have a slight flare at the bottom. You can wear flared jeans with boots of almost any type. Dark wash denim is one of the hottest trends in the world of male fashions, but you'll also find a few lighter washes too.

Protect Your Eyes

Protect your eyes this hunting season with sunglasses that you can also wear while working in the yard, running around town or at the stadium. Aviator shades have a simple design that never goes out of style, and everyone from Robert Downey Jr. to James Dean has wore aviator sunglasses. Molded pieces on the edges keep the sunglasses from slipping off the face, while mirrored lenses reflect light away from your eyes.

Cap It Off

When stalking your prey through the woods, you might notice the temperature dropping. As your body loses a large amount of heat through your head, you need to wear some type of hat. Instead of an ordinary camouflage hat or a hat with flaps, why not reach for a baseball cap? Available in multiple colors and designs, including camouflage and hunter orange, you just might find yourself replacing an old favorite with a new favorite.

Reach for Leather

Leather products are a great choice for the outdoors. Leather tends to look better once it gets a little dusty and beat up, and while suede requires a little more care, it has a tasteful and traditional look. Keep your pants from sliding down and off your hips with a great leather belt, or replace your existing watch with a classic leather band.

Wear the Perfect Shirt

Wearing the perfect shirt can help a hunter keep his movements fluid without worrying that the shirt might snag on a branch or make so much noise that it chases off his prey. Long-sleeved shirts let you layer your clothing to stay warm on cooler fall and winter days. Toss the shirt over a simple T-shirt in a similar or matching color, and remove layers as needed throughout the day. Long-sleeved shirts come in dozens of colors and designs, including simple plaid designs and neutral-colored shirts that you can wear at the office.

When hunting season starts, many men think that they can wear the same clothing again and again. With some of the hottest pieces, including shirts, leather belts, baseball caps and aviator sunglasses, you can outfit your wardrobe with clothing you can wear while hunting, working, spend time with your girlfriend and even playing with your kids.
